3 Things that Keep Me Going

AT THE GEDERA TABLE #6

Running a small business is no easy feat. Especially now, it’s infinitely more complicated navigating e-commerce and social media and the state of the economy.

It’s not lost on us how amazing it is that our community chooses to spend their dollars supporting a small, purpose-driven business like ours. We so appreciate you taking the time to sign up for our email list, share pics of your Gedera & Co meals in WhatsApp chats with friends, and buying your fave cooking kits.

I remind myself that some of these interactions are happening in the background, even if I can’t see them. That’s incredible!

So, how do you keep going?

There’s no right answer, but here are 3 things that certainly help me:

1. Family, family, family. I surround myself with community and family, blood and chosen, who believe in Gedera & Co as much as I do. My family is always helping to pack orders and test new products and give me frank feedback. So grateful! 💌

2. I’m bringing up 2 beautiful Aussie kids with Sri Lankan heritage. I feel like it is my responsibility that their heritage is showcased, shared, and preserved for future generations in Australia to connect to. And there’s no better way to do this other than through food. Food is like music — it has no limits or boundaries and everyone equally can enjoy connect and share through food. 🎶

3. When things are feeling stagnant or uncertain, take a pause. You’re a human! You’re doing your best and it can feel like an uphill battle. Sometimes you need to clear your head, and that then can help you try something new or see something in a different angle. Remind yourself of your “Why” — Why are you doing this? The positive change that I know Gedera can make keeps me grounded. 🌱

Thank you for following along on our journey!

Cheers,

Jayani S.
