Get to know how Gedera & Co. founder Jayani Samaranayake fills her cup, fridge, pantry & belly. 

Q: What inspires you? 

J: My mom and my kids. 

Q: What’s always in your pantry or fridge?

J: Besides Gedera & Co. products, of course — rice, pasta, coconut milk, and multiple types of tea are in my pantry. Milk, Cheese, tortillas, fresh veggies and fruit are always stocked in my fridge. 

Q: What’s your food philosophy?   

J: It is essential for me to prioritize having a balanced meal for breakfast, lunch, and dinner to support overall health and well-being. Fresh food is always preferred over canned and processed options whenever possible, and home cooked vs. take away when possible. 

Additionally, to show gratitude for the abundance of food we have, it is important to minimize food waste and be mindful of those who are less fortunate and struggle with hunger on a daily basis. 

My food philosophy revolves around nourishing the body with wholesome, balanced meals while being conscious of the impact of food choices on both personal health and global food security.

Q: What's your favourite cuisine? 

J: Besides Sri Lankan food, authentic Thai food is my favourite.
